Today, 2/22/2018, I went to the Georgia State Capital for my education class. GAE was having their GAE day where they bring in people and talk about education laws, and we go meet our legislators, and try to lobby for certain bills. Along with seeing our legislators, GAE asked candidates who are running in the governor election to come and speak with us about what they would do for education if they were to become governor. One candidate came up and talked about what he wants to do in schools. You could tell that he struck a nerve with the crowd, and that not a lot of people felt the same way about his views. When he was done talking, the president of GAE, Sid Chapman, came up to the podium and said, "thankfully, you all are still here." Sid Chapman publicly disrespected that candidate while the candidate was still in the room. It is one thing to not agree with someone's political views, but to thank the guest for still sticking around after a bad political proposal is absolutely unacceptable. If the president of GAE will disrespect someone they INVITED to speak, then who knows how much disrespect they will give to their members.
